Kroger Health Partners with Tennessee Titans Running Back Derrick Henry to Help Drive Awareness of COVID-19 Testing Options

Henry to Help Bolster Kroger Health’s Testing and Prevention Efforts as Flu Season Begins and COVID-19 Cases Spike
(NASHVILLE – November 18, 2020) - Kroger Health, the healthcare division of The Kroger Co. (NYSE: KR), today announced it is has partnered with Tennessee Titans Pro Bowl running back, Derrick Henry, as a key ambassador in its vision to help people live healthier lives. Kroger Health has been rapidly evolving and expanding its healthcare offerings amidst the threat of dual healthcare challenges – the COVID-19 pandemic and the seasonal flu - and this newly minted partnership will combine education and advocacy to help spread a message of safety and protection to Americans nationwide.

According to data from the CDC, the United States recently reported over 100,000 new COVID cases in a single day, the highest number for the country thus far. Given the overlap between COVID-19 and flu symptoms, the CDC and WHO continue to urge Americans to get a seasonal flu shot, which may help reduce overburdening on the healthcare system.

Henry is a prominent influencer and advocate for healthy communities. As part of his partnership with Kroger Health, Henry will be sharing his experience of getting a flu shot and will help educate Americans about how they can access Kroger Health’s suite of COVID-19 testing services, including home collection kits, rapid antigen testing, and the recently introduced antibody testing.

“Staying healthy has always been an important part of my life as a professional athlete – but now, it’s taken on a whole new meaning,” said Derrick Henry. “Kroger Health has a genuine commitment to building healthy communities, and I am honored to use my voice to spread the word about how we can help protect people from all walks of life from COVID-19 and the flu.”

Because some of the symptoms of flu and COVID-19 are similar, the CDC recommends testing to help confirm a diagnosis. In addition to symptomatic individuals, COVID-19 testing also is recommended for people who have had close contact with someone with confirmed COVID-19, as well as people who have been asked or referred to get testing by their healthcare provider.

“We are excited for this partnership and honored to welcome Derrick Henry to the Kroger Health family,” said Colleen Lindholz, president of Kroger Health. “We want every American to be armed with the knowledge and tools necessary to prevent the spread of COVID-19 and the flu. We are grateful that Derrick Henry shares our mission, and we look forward to working with him to promote flu shots and COVID-19 testing to all who are in need.”
